What Pain Conditions Can Neural Injections Treat?

September 07, 20265 min read

If you've been living with lingering pain, you’ve probably heard it all, tried it all, and spent countless hours in clinic waiting rooms.

Most people I see in my practice have made managing their pain a full-time job. They're doing weekly rounds between the chiropractor, massage therapist, physiotherapist, and acupuncturist.

I believe in all of those modalities and many of patients tell me that while those treatments offer short-term relief, they often find themselves right back where they started by the next day.

I completely appreciate that frustration!

When pain persists for months, years, or even decades, standard approaches often miss the bigger picture.

That's where pain recovery injections come into play offering a targeted pain-recovery approach designed to interrupt the pain cycle and give your body a chance to truly heal.

Read on friend, things are about to get good.

As you read on I might use some terms interchangeably (although I do define the top two on the list):

Neural Therapy

Biopuncture

Pain Recovery Injections

Musculoskeletal repair

What Conditions Respond Best to Neural Injections and Biopuncture?

Neural injections and biopuncture specifically target issues involving soft tissues: muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.

Sometimes people respond better to these injections than to mistletoe for osteoarthritis. No matter how we slice it medicine is both an art and a science and my patients can keep me guessing! Thankfully my naturopathic oath says to treat each person as an individual.

But we're getting distracted.

Here's a breakdown of the conditions and symptoms we treat most frequently:

  • Injuries & Trauma: Whiplash, motor vehicle accident injuries (even from accidents decades ago), acute sprains, strains, and tears.

  • Chronic Soft Tissue Issues: Tendonitis, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, scar tissue, and fascial adhesions.

  • Nerve & Muscle Conditions: Neuralgia, nerve pain, paresthesias (numbness and tingling), myalgia, fibromyalgia, and nervous or muscle tension from stress.

  • Joint & Unexplained Pain: Arthritis, stiffness, weakness of unknown origin, and localized edema or swelling.

  • Systemic Discomfort: Digestive issues, cramping, and heartburn.

Why Does Pain Persist When the Body Has Already Healed?

My overarching philosophy on chronic pain is simple: healing pain isn't just a body problem, it's a brain problem too.

Don't you dare put words in my mouth, I'm not saying the pain's "all in your head." The physical suffering is very real and how your days are impacted is realer than real.

And your nervous system's intimately involved in constantly triggering those pain messages and alerts.

Think about it this way: if a body part still hurts 3 to 6 months after an injury, you've passed the timeline for normal physical tissue healing.

So if the tissue's healed, why does it still hurt? Why is the brain still receiving pain signals? It’s almost as if the body’s created a habit of pain.

Neural injections and biopuncture act as a circuit breaker to interrupt that habit so your body can build a brand-new habit of comfort, ease, and mobility.

The Science Behind the Treatment: Shushing the Nervous System

In my clinic, we use a combination of neural therapy (lidocaine) and biopuncture (formulated natural remedies).

Lidocaine's a local anesthetic that numbs the area so you get immediate relief, but something deeper is happening under the surface.

It interrupts the signals traveling from the affected body part to the brain.

Lidocaine acts like a kindergarten teacher putting her finger to her lips and calmly shushing a noisy room. Suddenly, there's silence. The brain thinks, "Oh... I don't need to send pain signals anymore. I forgot what it felt like not to be on high alert."

While the brain takes a much-needed rest, the carefully selected natural remedies go to work directly at the cellular level.

They improve blood circulation and lymph drainage, which boosts oxygen and nutrient delivery while flushing out metabolic and inflammatory waste.

My core formula for health is straightforward: get nutrients in and wastes out right where the cells need help most.

Real Relief in Action: A Case Study

I treated a middle-aged retired fellow who'd been dealing with agonizing shoulder pain on both sides for 10 years.

Nothing showed up on his imaging studies, which was deeply frustrating for him, and me!

Every time he lifted his arm to grab a cup or put away a dish, he suffered sharp, agonizing pain. His partner was getting pretty tired of the broken dishes! Jokes aside...

We performed a single combined injection treatment of lidocaine and natural remedies.

By his next visit, he told me, "I've been able to do things with my shoulders this week that I haven't done in years. And I slept so much better because I wasn't in pain." When pain drops, sleep deepens, and that allows the body to repair itself even further.

That's a positive healing cycle that I can get behind.

What to Expect During a Session

If you’re nervous about needles, you’re not alone. Most patients describe the small subcutaneous injections as feeling like a quick, tiny mosquito bite. Maybe they're a little "spicy," but very tolerable and short lived.

Your initial visit includes a thorough 45-minute injection consultation.

Follow-up treatments take just 15 minutes, which includes a quick check-in to review how your week went.

You’ll feel relief right away from the lidocaine, and you can reliably expect marked improvement for 1 to 2 days after the first session.

With each subsequent treatment, that window of relief stretches longer and longer. I've even seen patients who suffered from daily chronic pain for 4 decades completely resolve their issues in just 4 to 8 treatments.

If you’ve tried everything and feel stuck, it’s simply time to think about pain differently.
